Some Services and Programs Available at Your Local Library:

Book Club

Come and join in on the Book Club fun at the Griffin-Spalding County Library on the second Thursday of the month at 6:00PM.  Other locations in our library system also offer book clubs for adults.

Borrowing Materials

A wide variety of materials including books, large print books, recorded books and video recordings (VHS & DVD) may be borrowed from your library for a two-week period.  All you need is a valid library card from any Georgia PINES library in the State of Georgia.  You must have your library card with you in order to borrow materials from the library.
 

Code of Conduct

Each location of the Flint River Regional Library System has a Code of Conduct and policies regarding proper and improper behavior in the library.  Please be aware of these policies and the effect of your actions on those around you in the library.

Computer & Internet Usage

All locations of the Flint River Regional Library System have computers with Internet access available for public use.  These computers also have Microsoft Office and a variety of other software programs installed that will allow you to accomplish a variety of tasks.  Anyone with a valid library card from any PINES library in the State of Georgia may use library computers.  You must have your library card with you in order to use a library computer.

 

Interlibrary Loan

For items not available through PINES, limited borrowing from libraries outside of the PINES system may be attempted.  For each item requested, there is a nonrefundable fee of $3.00, plus any fees charged by the lending library.  The request must be placed at the branch where the item is to be picked up or used.  There is a single two-week checkout period and the patron assumes full responsibility for any loss, damage, or failure to return interlibrary loan items.  In-library use is required for some items.

 
Intralibrary Loan

For items not available within the Griffin library, patrons may place online requests for materials owned by other PINES libraries.  Holds for audiovisual items are limited to those owned within the Flint River Regional Library System.

Lost Library Cards

Lost library cards may be replaced for a fee of $2.00.  Any fees or overdue fines will also need to be addressed at the time the replacement card is requested.

 

Meeting Room

Each location of the Flint River Regional Library System has policies and procedures regarding the use of their meeting room facilities.  Call your local library for more information.

 

Notary Public Services

The Griffin-Spalding County Library has one staff member who is also commissioned as a notary public.  He is available to perform notarial acts during his regular working hours.

 
Public Services

Among many other things, the Public Services Department is responsible for providing reference and reader's advisory services, children's and adult programming, circulation assistance, and the selection and acquisition of new library materials.

 

Storytimes

The Children's Department offers a variety of story times and programs for children of all ages throughout the year.

Technical Services

Among the many unsung functions of the Technical Services Department is the receiving and processing of new library materials, the identification and cataloging of library materials, and, in short,  making sure that library materials can be readily identified, found, and used by library patrons and staff.

Test Proctoring

Test proctoring is available Monday through Friday, by appointment only.  Appointments must be made at least 48 hours in advance.  The fee is $25.00 per exam.  The proctor will administer exams, but cannot be present with the student at all times.  If answer sheets or other materials must be returned to the educational institution, the student must pay for postage or faxing. 

 

Testing may begin as early as 30 minutes after the library opens, and must be completed at least 30 minutes before the library closes.  If you are unable to arrive within 15 minutes of your appointment time, your appointment will be cancelled.  We will be happy to re-schedule you for a future date.

Voter Registration

Any resident of Georgia may register to vote at any public library in the State of Georgia.

Wi-Fi Access

Many locations of the Flint River Regional Library System now offer free onsite Wi-Fi access for library patrons.
