Ian Fleming's novels are great reads. John Gardner, Kingsley Amis, and others have attempted to continue the series. However, there was only one Ian Fleming. And only one Bond. See Movies. |

Clancy's novel are great techno-thrillers. Of course, he's wordy. His latest, "The Bear and the Dragon," (1028 pages) has gotten bad reviews because it is too wordy, not as coherent as his previous novels. I haven't read it yet, it's still on a long holds list. |

An interesting quote from "The Power of Simplicity" by
Jack Trout:
"When Shakespeare wrote Hamlet, he had 20,000 words with which
to work. When Lincoln scribbled the Gettysburg Address on the
back of an envelope there were about 114,000 words at his
disposal. Today there are more than 600,000 words in
Webster's Dictionary. Tom Clancy appears to have used all
of them in his last thousand-page novel."
Movies
All the Bond movies, except the ones with Timothy Dalton (he just was not Bond!!!). Of all the actors playing Bond, Sean Connery was the best, with Roger Moore a close second. Connery has the perfect "devil may care" attitude for the part.
I'm a sucker for Christmas movies. All of them.
